Ana emerged as a filmmaker after a successful career as an actor in her native Portugal. In 2007 she completed her Fine Arts Degree in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon. Here she developed her passion for the power of the visual image in photography and film, winning the Bienal Jovens VaLoures for her work "Love_in_Progress" and taking part in the Bienal Internacional de Artes Plásticas e Design Industrial da Marinha Grande with her work "Espera"; for which she was given an honourable mention.

 



In 2010 she moved to London to further develop her skills at London Film School, where she completed her MA in Filmmaking in Dec 2013.



Ana's understanding of character and her passion for storytelling have seen her thrive as a Director working in both fiction and documentary. Her short film "No Mar" (At Sea) is a poetic fable on a woman's loss, shot in the beautiful Portuguese landscape of Torreira and it was selected to XXI Caminhos Film Festival - 2015. 

Minha Alma and You, her previous 35 mm short film was accepted for Cannes Film Festival 2013- Short Film Corner.



 

Her documentary Laundriness was nominated for Best Short Documentary 2012 in London, at the International student Film Festival London, 2012 and has been accepted for Cannes Film Festival 2012- Short Film Corner. 

 

Ana is currently completing her latest film "One Last Summer", an intimate portrait on time, loss and "saudade". She is frequently exploring themes such as life, death, time and human condition.



This passion for exploring the poetry of image leads her work to a very compelling specific language: her own. Ana is a filmmaker who truly understands the power of cinema.
